DNA Fingerprinting using Microsatellite (SSR) Markers

Training Course at College of Science (2)

Department: Botany and Microbiology

Title: DNA Fingerprinting using Microsatellite (SSR) Markers

Training Objectives:

       -    To provide basic understanding of molecular fingerprinting and species identification.

       -    To build experimental skills by hands-on schedules on automated genetic analyzer.

Program Details:

Day 1-

       -    Lecture on molecular fingerprinting

       -    Laboratory-PCR setup for SSR markers

Day 2-

       -    Laboratory-Post PCR cleanup

       -    Laboratory-Capillary electrophoresis

       -    Laboratory-Collection of SSR data

Who Should Attend?

       -    Undergraduate and graduate students who have research interest in molecular fingerprinting, biodiversity or molecular conservation are the potential beneficiaries from this course.

       -    The maximum number of attendants in the coarse should not exceed (9) due to limited space in the laboratory.

Course Duration: 2 days
